• Initial evaluation and consultation appointment. The first step of the dental implant process is to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Ken Poznikoff. During this appointment, he evaluates your oral health and determines if you are considered a suitable candidate for dental implants.
• Treatment plan. If you are deemed eligible for the placement of quality dental implants, our implant specialist Dr. Ben Thomas creates a personalized treatment dental plan based on your specific needs and goals.
• Surgical placement of the implant. Once the treatment plan is finalized, Dr. Ben Thomas surgically places the dental implant in the jawbone beneath the gumline. This procedure typically takes about one hour per implant. To ease your mind, sedation is available upon request.
• Healing process. After the surgical placement, there is a healing period of approximately three months. This allows the dental implant to fuse with the jawbone through a process referred to as osseointegration, creating both a strong and stable foundation for the actual replacement tooth.
• Abutment placement. Once the healing process is complete, Dr. Ken Poznikoff places an abutment on top of the dental implant. This serves as a connector between both the implant and the replacement tooth.
• Final restoration. The final step in the dental implant process is attaching a custom-made replacement tooth, also known as a crown, to the abutment. This restoration is created to match your natural teeth for a seamless appearance and is fabricated using porcelain–a material that mimics the finish of the patient’s natural tooth enamel.
• Aftercare and maintenance. It is critical that you properly care for your dental implants after they are placed.
